Just a reminder

The Black Daathian Vortices/ Black Gates, Cracks in the fabric of space/time rp will probably start sometime in March. I've opted that our group take a neutral route. So, if you want to use healing powers to help the Gypsies and Romantics heal infected victims of the Vhor, you can. Or! You can help the Decadents and Wytchs my using the powers of the dark goddess Kali to open gates.

I'll try to give classes on both this week. Most likely private based until we get more people.

Skill 5: Aether: Conjuration Elemental
This is the level when you will first start to focus on controlling objects. This level starts off small.

You should focus on an object and see if you can change it in a slight way. I will use the example from the main Magick note card. And also added to the above:

You concentrate and a piece of paper on the table in front of you begins to first smolder and then a small flame appears at one corner that eventually burns the paper up.

The second aspect is the creation of a servitor or a familiar.
What this means is that you invoke a controllable spirit into either a physical animal or bird or else into a physical object I.e. the genii in the bottle.

In this sim any manifestation of this entity that does not have a physical medium like an actual animal should be thought of as an illusion caused by the mind of the seer.

But the effects of these entities can be seen and felt.

Skill 6: Earth: Defense

Going with the later half of the above, you will use that added bit of skill to remake your magic circle. As you do so try to visualize protective symbols such as... spirit animals or important protect symbols.

So... not hard, just building what has or should have been learned. If you do not know how to make a magick circle please contact me at once!

Skill 7: Water: Healing

This level you will use the psychic healing is the power to heal with the mind alone. The main card said to imagine this a as a color. You can also call upon healing spirits or gods to heal the person or area affected.

Skill 8: Air: Divination

Remember in skill four you were asked to use a divination tools to divine the future? Well in this level you will use only your mind!

From the nc's:the aid of any physical prop.
It might also take the form of a shamanic journey where the magician works themselves into a trance in order to travel to get visons of the future.

But, you may also use the aid of opium to get into the trans like state.

Chinese New Year

Legend has it that in ancient times, Buddha asked all the animals to meet him on Chinese New Year. Twelve came, and Buddha named a year after each one. He announced that the people born in each animal's year would have some of that animal's personality.

This year, we are going to celebrate the year of the snake. Those born in snake years are wise, charming, gregarious, introverted, generous, and smart!

At Chinese New Year celebrations people wear red clothes, decorate with poems on red paper, and give children "lucky money" in red envelopes. Red symbolizes fire, which according to legend can drive away bad luck. The fireworks that shower the festivities are rooted in a similar ancient custom. Long ago, people in China lit bamboo stalks, believing that the crackling flames would frighten evil spirits.

So this year we brought a little bit of this amazing celebration to Goatswood! The fun started at 11am SL and lasted the entire day!

The events were as followed:

Sunday 10th
11 am SL: The story behind Chinese New Year
2 pm SL: New Years Ball with the Romantics  and fire works show. Fireworks from the Rackham Oriental Import Company.
5pm: Dumping and rice wine tasting plus a Chinese New Year Parade

First Steps

Magickal Diary

In order to mark your progress, you should write your experiences down. The more detailed (and creative) the better. You will need to keep a Magickal diary in order to advance to the next stages.

Magickal Name

You should choose or create a Magickal name for yourself.
Your Magick name is very important. It should indicate as much as possible your aspirations in Magick.

For example, my Magickal Name is Guru Kashi

Power symbol

Fashion for yourself, or acquire, an object that appears to you as impressive and powerful.
It should also be something which can inspire awe in others.
It should be no bigger than a forearms length, no smaller than a ring.
Daggers, small wooden or metal wands, a ring, a crystal shard, a stone, all could be used.

My magickal item is a pearl ring surrounded by small amethyst.

It has very important meaning

Pearl: The pearl is the oldest known gem, and for many centuries it was considered the most valuable. Unlike all gems, the pearl is organic matter derived from a living creature - oysters and mollusks.

There is much folklore and tradition about the pearl. In fact so much history accompanies this stone that five months claim it as a birthstone - February, April, June (traditional), July and November.

The pearl is an astral stone for the signs Gemini and Cancer, and astrologers link it to the moon. It was said in some early cultures that the pearl was born when a single drop of rain fell from the heavens and became the heart of the oyster. Pearls have been called the 'teardrops of the moon'. Some believe that pearls were formed by the passage of angels through the clouds of heaven.

Over time, the pearl has become the symbol of purity and innocence and it is often sewn into bridal gowns, or worn as jewelry by the bride.

Amethyst: Crystalline quartz in shades of purple, lilac or mauve is called amethyst, a stone traditionally worn to guard against drunkeness and to instill a sober mind. The word amethyst comes from the Greek meaning "without drunkenness" and amethyst is believed to protect one from poison.

Ancient Egyptians used the amethyst guard against guilty and fearful feelings. It has been worn as protection from self-deception, as well as a protection against witchcraft. The amethyst has long been used to open the spiritual and psychic centers, making it one of the power stones. It is also used as a meditation aid when worn as a necklace.

Word of power

You should design a power word
This word will be used to project power, when you posses it.
Short blunt words are very effective.
It should be noted that so called swear words are of this short blunt nature and are powerful because of it.

They are in fact called cursing in many countries.
But it is not recommended that you use such words of course.

For our group  power words are called Mantras. Such as the Thunderbolt Mantra PHAT!

(Note on slow advancement.
I am aware that many people will feel that they should be allowed to RP higher skills from the outset.
They will wish to arrive in the sim as master magicians.

We do not allow this as it will always cause bad feeling amongst those who have spent time in the sim practicing their magic in stages.
So EVERYONE will start at square one.
In this way you will know that anyone claiming to be a master magician has at least put in the time to get to this lofty position.)
